The Timberland Investment Group is one of the world’s largest and oldest timberland managers.

We have US$ 5.7 billion assets [1] and commitments and approximately 3 million acres under management throughout the U.S. and Latin America [2]. TIG has a 40+ year track record of timberland investment [3]. Since its inception, more than US$ 2.7 billion has been returned to investors [4].

Our team of more than 150 professional staff has an on-the-ground presence through 24 offices around the globe, bringing local, regional, and global experience to bear on the management of client investments [5].

ORGANIZATION

TIG’s parent company is BTG Pactual, Latin America’s largest investment platform [6].

TIG is an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of BTG Pactual, a publicly traded investment platform (B3: BPAC11) with a US$ 45B+ market capitalization, and resides within BTG Pactual’s Asset Management Group via its own entity, the BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group, LLC. BTG Pactual’s Asset Management Group offers investment strategies across all major asset classes (including fixed income, equities, hedge funds, timberland, private equity, infrastructure, and real estate) and has approximately US$ 159B in assets under management.

Having led timberland organizations for decades, the team has navigated multiple economic cycles.

Gerrity Lansing

Managing Director and Partner, BTG Pactual and Head, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Gerrity provides overall strategic and business leadership for TIG, and is a Managing Director and Partner of BTG Pactual.

Mitchell Kosches

Associate Partner, BTG Pactual and Chief Operating Officer and Head of Investment Management, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Mitch oversees all phases of transaction execution and investment management within TIG.

Mark Wishnie

Chief Sustainability Officer, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Mark provides overall leadership on sustainability policy and performance for the BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group.

Charlotte Kaiser

Head of Impact Finance, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Charlotte Kaiser serves as BTG’s first Head of Impact Finance, where she leads efforts to source, structure and execute impact-focused transactions, as well as build and strengthen partnerships with the conservation community and other key stakeholders.

Rodrigo Bandeira

Head of Relationship Management and Product Development, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Rodrigo is responsible for managing client relationships and capital formation efforts for both Landscape Capital and TIG, and he also leads the development of Landscape Capital’s climate-positive forestry investment strategy.

Esben Brandi

Head of Business Development, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Esben supports distribution efforts in Europe with more than 20 years of experience in global timberland investment.

Caitlin Clarke

Director of Policy and External Affairs, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Caitlin represents TIG in civil society, multistakeholder, and industry initiatives focused on the role of responsible forestry in delivering climate-positive results.

David Duncan

Head of U.S. Transactions, Asset Management and Strategic Initiatives, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

David is responsible for supporting the operational management of TIG’s domestic assets, as well as assisting in diligence, underwriting, and financial analysis of potential acquisitions.

Carlos Guerreiro

Head of Latin America Operations, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Carlos is the Head of LatAm Operations within BTG Pactual’s Timberland Investment Group; he is responsible for developing and executing silvicultural practices for all Latin American operations.

John Hamilton

Head of TTG Forestry Services & U.S. Operations, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

As Head of TTG and U.S. Operations, John focuses on supporting the management of TIG’s assets in the U.S.

Anita Keegan

Executive Director, Head Timberland Accounting, Fund Services, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Anita is Head of Timberland Fund Services within BTG Pactual’s Timberland Investment Group. Anita has spent her career in accounting, finance, and banking, with 20+ years in Timberland Accounting.

Jim McBride

Head of Timberland Distribution, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Jim is Head of Timberland Distribution and is responsible for the development and distribution of Company timberland funds.

Matheus Moura

Associate Partner, BTG Pactual and Head of Latin America Transactions and Investment Management, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Matheus is the Head of LatAm Transactions and Investment Management and is responsible for timberland origination, acquisitions and general transaction efforts within TIG.

Rafael Teixeira

Executive Director, Head of Accounting Technical Service, Fund Services, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group

Rafael has been responsible for the implementation of a strategic Portfolio Management project for the Asset Management unit in Latin America with comprehensive instrument coverage – from global equities and fixed income to derivatives and bank debt.

HISTORY

TIG’s predecessor group was created in 1981 and was a pioneer in timberland investing when it started the first commingled timberland fund for institutional investors. Since then, TIG has grown to be one of the largest global timberland investment management organizations (“TIMO”), with three million acres under management and US$ 5.7 billion in assets and commitments [7].

TIG is one of the world’s oldest and largest timberland investment management organizations.

ImpactAssets is an independent 501(c)3 organization and impact investing firm that seeks to help its clients define and execute on their impact goals. To compile the annual IA 50 list of fund managers, ImpactAssets assembles an annual Review Committee of experienced impact investment leaders.

The IA 50 Review Committee selects firms according to a set of criteria developed to ensure that the list includes a diverse set of firms with experience in the field, scale in terms of AUM and investor base, commitment to impact and representing a range of approaches, asset classes and impact areas. Particular consideration will be given to firms that demonstrate a unique strategy, under-represented impact theme and leadership diversity in view of application pool. Selection based on 2022 data.
